Most recently spotted on Skrillex’s ‘Quest For Fire’ album
and scoring Alex Lee Moyer’s film ‘Alex’s War’, Eli
Keszler is arguably among his generation’s preeminent percussionists,
renowned for an exquisite grasp of seat-edge rhythmic anticipation and
proprioceptive qualities. ‘Live LuckyMe ®’ looks back to his
roots as an installation artist and free improvising live performer with a
substantial, 84 minute suite vacillating snapshots of his shows at Sonar and in
Manhattan which pay testament to the endlessly explorative mutability of his
craft and vision.

‘Live LuckyMe ®’ is Keszler’s 2nd album for LuckyMe after
the acclaimed ‘Icons’ (2021) and depicts an artist incredibly
attuned with his kit. Like Valentina Magaletti’s recent expo’s, it
deals not just in rhythm but also tonal aspects, with insectoid scuttles,
pulses, and balletic plies bathed in softly harmonised chords and
sampler-triggered strings and wind, rendered in reverberant resonances with a
totally dreamlike nature. It’s music to get wholly lost in, messing with
the listener’s temporal and spatial perceptions with a sublime guile that
effortlessly suspends disbelief for the duration - and that duration is properly
substantial, plentiful to get right into his world.
